Shopping for a mattress in Oklahoma City can feel overwhelming. Between national chains, online brands, and local stores, how do you know where to shop for a quality mattress?
The Oklahoma City Mattress Landscape
OKC has no shortage of mattress options. You've got the national chains along I-240 and Memorial Road, the online-only brands shipping to your door, and local retailers scattered across the metro. Each has pros and cons.
National Chains: Wide Selection
National chains offer wide selection and brand recognition, and they're a good place to see a lot of models in one trip. Compare what's included in the price, like the foundation, delivery and haul-away.
Online Mattresses: Convenient but Risky
Brands like Casper and Purple offer the convenience of doorstep delivery. But you can't try before you buy, returns are a hassle, and you're stuck with whatever firmness you guessed at. For something you'll use 8 hours a day for 10 years, that's a big gamble.
Local Discount Retailers: Personal Service
Local discount mattress stores like Mattress Discount Plus offer name brands at discount prices with a smaller, hands-on team. You can try mattresses in person and get straight answers, with no pressure.
How to Shop Smart in OKC
1. Know the model you want: Try mattresses in person, note the exact model names, and compare prices for the same model across stores.
2. Ask about floor models: Some stores sell display models at a discount. Ask what's available and what warranty comes with it.
3. Ask about bundles: Ask whether the store prices bundles, like a mattress with pillows and a protector.
4. Check for financing: Mattress Discount Plus offers lease-to-own through SNAP Finance or Acima, and credit financing through Synchrony. Each provider sets its own approval and terms.
5. Time your purchase: Holiday weekends (Memorial Day, Labor Day, Black Friday) often bring the best sales.
