Two of the most popular mattress brands we carry at Mattress Discount Plus are Sealy and Diamond Mattress. Both are excellent choices, but they have distinct differences that make each better suited for different sleepers.
Sealy: The Heritage Brand
Sealy has been making mattresses since 1881 — that's over 140 years of sleep innovation. Their Posturepedic line is one of the most recognized names in the mattress industry.
What makes Sealy special: - Posturepedic Technology for targeted back support - Innerspring construction with reinforced center support - Wide range of firmness options (soft to extra firm) - Excellent edge support for couples - Proven durability — many Sealy mattresses last 10+ years
Best for: Back sleepers, people who want traditional innerspring feel, couples who need strong edge support.
Diamond Mattress: The Modern Innovator
Diamond Mattress has been crafting mattresses in Southern California since 1946. They're known for combining traditional craftsmanship with modern materials.
What makes Diamond Mattress special: - Hybrid construction (pocket coils + gel memory foam) - CertiPUR-US certified foams - Excellent motion isolation for couples - Gel-infused cooling technology - Handcrafted quality with attention to detail
Best for: Side sleepers, hot sleepers, couples who disturb each other at night.
Head-to-Head Comparison
Comfort: Diamond Mattress tends to have a softer, more conforming feel thanks to the gel memory foam layers. Sealy offers a more traditional, supportive feel with their innerspring construction.
Cooling: Diamond Mattress wins here with gel-infused foam layers that actively dissipate heat. Sealy's innerspring design allows good airflow but doesn't actively cool.
Motion isolation: Diamond Mattress excels with pocket coils that move independently. Sealy's connected coil system transfers slightly more motion.
Edge support: Sealy wins with reinforced perimeter coils that prevent roll-off. Diamond Mattress is adequate but not as strong at the edges.
Price: Both brands are available at discount prices at Mattress Discount Plus.
